Valkyrie Profile 2 - Lenneth and Lezard
by Mai Cee Vang Rendered by Travis Balitz Media: Mechanical 0.5 mm pencil outline Accumulated Draw Time to Render: 56 hours and 45 Minutes Ever since I heard about the possibilities with photoshop, I have always wanted to attempt realism with it. But, since I knew it was impossible to render such works without the use of a wacom tablet, I never really managed to get around to one to post it online. But times have changed for the better. I unmistakably made up my mind, went out and shopped for a 8 x 12 wacom tablet... Yeah, it happened to be 400 bucks, but the product has been put to great use as seen here with this drawing. Its very practical to train your skills with a preoutlined drawing, which is what I did with this one. However, it must be noted that THIS IS NOT a drawing of my own works. The original outline is done by a friend of mine, and she deserves the credit for being able to create such impressive illustrations. If anyone happens to be interested in her works, she has a deviantart page that she post some of her older works on. Though she has a collection of works, she rarely posts them online, however this is her page. Aki- Mai Anyhow, in terms of my own participation with this drawing, I've relined and rendered the characters as well as the frame and the flowers. This was a huge challenge because since this is my first opportunity to render a work with this much detail, and the fact that I lacked skills with photoshop, it took me a lot longer than expected. I had difficulty understand how to capture the qualities that humans possess. However, with that in mind, I think this one turned out very well... the exuberant colors and vivid capturing of the Lenneth and Lezard from Valkyrie Profile 2, are put out very professionally. The color choice is based on the loveliness I was trying to capture. It is a little girly for my taste but that wasn't the point here;] Its a huge compliment to receive gratitude from Mai C since it is her drawing. Yes, I spent a tremendous amount of time on this. On a side note, Mai C wanted me to create a smaller version, so no one could "steal" it... which is fine, I just want to note that I drew on a much larger canvas. Anyhow Enjoy |
